Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise which build's your body's core strength and posture.

Within a matter of weeks of joining a pilates class you will begin to notice your movement become more controlled and responsive, you should be standing straighter and feeling more energised as your body reacts to its newfound inner strength.

Principles of pilates:

· relaxation
· co-ordination
· alignment
· stamina
· concentration
· centering
· breathing
· flowing movements

Pippa Middleton has revealed the secret to her perfect figure - pilates classes.

In a statement on her local Pilates studio's website, Pippa wrote: "As someone who is always 'on the go', Pilates has been a wonderful escape from my busy lifestyle in London.

"From breathing techniques, muscle toning to overall flexibility and relaxation, my Pilates sessions have become something of a weekly necessity that keeps me fit, happy and energized."

It is important to wear appropriate clothing. Typically, what you would wear to train at the gym.

Don't forget to bring a drink to keep yourself hydrated throughout the class. You may also bring your own mat but they are also provided in the class.

In a 1 hour class you could burn 300 - 400 calories.
