Swansea Bay based male dance company, DYNION, has proved to be so successful that the Arts Council of Wales has selected the Company to receive special funding to pilot a year long project which will see them create a Professional Male Contemporary Dance 'arm', called DYNION PRO, and which will be based at the City's Grand Theatre.
The Grand Theatre, owned, managed and financed by the City and County of Swansea, will support the company by providing rehearsal space plus professional assistance including Stage, Lighting, Marketing expertise and administrative support during the year long project.
Dynion's existing Community Company has now become MEIBION.
The professionally trained dancers have just moved into their new home in the Grand's Arts Wing where the hard work will begin towards their first public performance as Dynion Pro at the Grand Theatre on Saturday 4th September
Head of Culture & Tourism for the City & County of Swansea, Iwan Davies stated. "This is another exciting and innovative project to happen at Swansea Grand Theatre. Since we created the theatre's Arts Wing space, we have been able to support quite a number of Arts based projects and companies, and this new joint project with Tan Dance takes us to another level. With support from Arts Council of Wales and the City & County of Swansea, everyone will be working towards achieving the success that this project promises".
Running alongside the project will be lots of opportunities for young men to join in with the experience, as regular classes and workshops will be held by the company under the guidance of Creative Wales Award winner and Dynion Director, Douglas Comley, members of the company and guest teachers
