Swansea Council's legal team are real qualitySwansea Council’s Legal team have retained the LEXCEL quality assurance accreditation.
The prestigious award, presented by the Law Society, is awarded to legal practices that can demonstrate compliance to the core ‘Practice Management Standards’ set out by the Law Society.
The standards focus on specific management and operational issues such as management structure, forward planning, financial management and managing people.
Brian Harding of Quality South West spent a week interviewing a cross-section of staff from Legal Services, checking procedures, manuals and legal files.
In his report, the department was praised for many aspects of the service, including its efforts to set out clear aims and objectives. Dave Daycock, Head of Legal and Democratic Services paid tribute to the hard work put in by staff in the department. He said, “Staff have worked very hard helping to achieve this important and prestigious legal accreditation.
"The inspector made some very positive comments on the work of the legal department here in Swansea, and we should all be justifiably proud.”
The City & County of Swansea’s Legal Service Division was the first local authority legal practice in Wales to obtain LEXCEL back in 1999.
