Disabled Access to Public Toilets
16 of our 19 public toilets currently have disabled access. The council also provides RADAR facilities at 15 sites. There are also a number of Changing Places facilities available.
The RADAR key scheme is a nationally recognised scheme that provides access to quality public services using a key. RADAR Keys are obtainable for £3 from the Civic Centre on Oystermouth Road (tel 1792 636000) or the Tourist Infoamtion Centre on Plymouth Street (tel 01792 468321).
RADAR keys can also be purchased direct from RADAR, 12 City Forum, 250 City Road, London, EC1V 8AF. Tel: 020 7250 3222. Or from their web site www.radar.org.uk
Changing Places facilities are also located at a number of locations in Swansea. They provide accessible toilet facilities for people with profound and multiple learning difficulties and other disabled people who cannot use standard accessible toilets. The facility provides extra space for disabled people and their personal assistants or carers, and a height adjustable changing bench and hoist. You can visit the Changing Places website for more information.
