Population statistics for Swansea
The latest estimate of the population of the City and County of Swansea stands at 239,600 (Mid Year Estimate, 2012). Swansea now has the second highest population of the 22 Welsh Unitary Authorities, representing almost 8% of the total population of Wales (3,074,100).
The latest estimates are the second to be based on the results of the 2011 Census, which were released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in July 2012.
