Population![]() Population statistics for SwanseaThe latest estimate of the population of the City and County of Swansea stands at 238,700 (2011 Mid Year Estimate). Swansea now has the second highest population of the 22 Welsh Unitary Authorities, representing almost 8% of the total population of Wales (3,063,800). The latest estimates were the first to be based on the initial results of the 2011 Census, which were released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) in July. A summary of the broad composition of Swansea's population (rounded) as at mid-2011, together with national comparisons, is shown in the table below.
