Population![]() Population statistics for SwanseaThe latest estimate of the population of the City and County of Swansea stands at 231,300 (Mid Year Estimate, 2009). Swansea has the third highest population of the 22 Welsh Unitary Authorities, representing almost 8% of the total population of Wales (2,999,300). The 2009 Mid Year Estimates were released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on 24 June 2010. The broad composition of Swansea's population (2009) by sex and age group (rounded), together with Wales and UK comparisons, is shown in the table below.
