Population![]() Population statistics for SwanseaThe latest estimate of the population of the City and County of Swansea stands at 229,100 (Mid Year Estimate, 2008). Swansea has the third highest population of the 22 Welsh Unitary Authorities, representing almost 8% of the total population of Wales (2,993,400). The 2008 Mid Year Estimates were released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) on 27 August 2009. The broad composition of Swansea's population (2008) by sex and age group (rounded), together with Wales and UK comparisons, is shown in the table below.
