Oystermouth Urban District Council See TC 68: Oystermouth Local Board of Health, later Oystermouth Urban District Council for a list of further records. Oystermouth Urban District Council was created from the southern half of the ancient parish of Oystermouth, and included, broadly speaking, the villages of Newton, Norton and Mumbles. The remaining part of the old parish, consisting of Clyne Moor, Blackpill and the Mayals area, was renamed Brynau parish, and remained part of the Gower Rural District until 1918. The Urban District replaced the Local Board of Health, which had been established c. 1875. The council offices formerly stood on the site of the library on Dunns Lane, Oystermouth. In 1918 the Urban district and Brynau parish were merged with Swansea County Borough, and became the Oystermouth (later Mumbles) Ward.
