Home swap scheme just a click away
SOCIAL housing tenants in Swansea now have an opportunity to swap homes with eachother thanks to a new scheme.
Homeswapper, a free on-line mutual exchange service, has been set up for tenants actively looking to swap homes.
The opportunity has come about thanks to a partnership forged between Swansea Council, Coastal Housing (Formerly Swansea Housing Association), Tai Cymdogaeth (Gwalia Group) and Family Housing Association Wales.
These organisations together account for about 23,000 homes across Swansea and tenants of any of the four can access the new scheme.
All tenants have to do to register is to log onto the Homeswapper website and advertise their property by tapping in information and uploading digital photographs.
They're also asked to describe the sort of home they're looking for and Homeswapper will alert them by email or text when suitable matches have been found.
Tenants can then get permission to swap from their landlord so long as certain conditions are met.
Anyone interested should take a look at www.homeswapper.co.uk where registration takes about five minutes.
Internet access is free at all community libraries across the city and landlords are on hand to help with any problems.
The scheme can also be used by households looking to relocate to a different area of the UK.
