Development of this Strategy was the first task of the Swansea Rural Development Partnership. The Strategy, agreed by the Welsh Assembly Government in July 2007, summarises the current situation in Rural Swansea, the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats, and a series of Objectives that fits with the potential funding available from the EU's Rural Development Plan. The Strategy fits with Swansea 2020, Swansea's Economic Regeneration Strategy, which provides a framework for the economic regeneration of the City & County of Swansea over the coming years. The issues emerging fell into five groups:
The Swansea Rural Local Development Strategy contains 18 Objectives grouped into five themes.
The Strategy will be implemented through Business Plans and associated projects, subject to agreement with the Welsh Assembly Government during the two main phases of the Rural Development Plan 2007-2013, with the first Plan covering the period 20 June 2008 to 28 February 2011.
City and County of Swansea prepare implementation reports covering progress of delivering the Strategy for each calendar year (January - December), agreed by the Partnership. The Reports can be downloaded here, or for a hard copy please contact us.
This is the Communications Plan for the Rural Development Plan in Swansea, to be delivered in line with the Swansea Rural Local Development Strategy 2007-2013.
