Vehicles - Private Hire

Private Hire vehicles are white and carry a yellow licence plate on the rear of the vehicle.

They also carry green triangles (stickers) on both front doors of the vehicle.  The plate and the door stickers show the licence number of the vehicle.  The plate on the rear also displays the maximum number of passengers the vehicle is allowed to carry.

Private Hire vehicles are only available to passengers who have pre-booked the vehicle (either in person or by telephone), through the company's office.  Private Hire vehicles cannot pick up passengers off the street.

Some Private Hire vehicles are fitted with meters, but the fare they charge is not regulated by the authority and may vary from company to company.

Passengers should agree a fare before entering the vehicle or on the phone when booking.
