Taxi Licensing![]() All Hackney Carriage and Private Hire drivers and vehicles operating in Swansea need to be licensed.Information and application forms for new and current drivers and vehicles are available on the pages below. There is also advice for members of the public including safety tips and disabled access. For the up to date fees please use the link on the right hand side of this page. Applications for licenses should be made in person at the Civic Centre. If you wish to licence a vehicle solely for the purposes of Airport Travel or Executive Hire please contact Taxi Licensing direct on 01792 635600 or visit the Civic Centre, Oystermouth Rd, Swansea, SA1 3SN and speak to one of the Taxi Licensing Officer's. Hackney Carriage vehicles are black and carry a white licence plate on the rear of the vehicle.
Private Hire vehicles are white and carry a yellow licence plate on the rear of the vehicle.
There are approximately 18 taxi operators within the Authority.
Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Vehicle drivers need to be licensed by this authority.
It is illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving.
Under smoking legislation it is illegal to smoke in any commercial vehicle carrying members of the public. This includes taxis.
Take a lift in an unlicensed taxi and you're putting your life at risk.
Taxi ranks are situated in the City Centre, Morriston and Mumbles with a number operating 24 hours.
