Special Thank You to Foster Carers
SWANSEA Council is throwing a party to say a special thanks to its foster carers.
On December 13th, the local authority's social services department will be hosting a Christmas celebration to bring together and thank Foster Swansea carers for their commitment and hard work throughout the year.
The event will be held on December 13th at the Phoenix Centre, Townhill, between noon and 2pm.
There are approximately 400 looked after children in Swansea, the majority of whom are in foster care.
More than 100 families offer a place in their homes and families for these youngsters who need a place to stay and someone to care for a variety of reasons.
However, more carers are always needed and Foster Swansea is happy to discuss the fostering options available with anyone who might think fostering could be for them.
Foster carers offer a range of services such as full time care, support breaks and 1-2-1 Foster Care for children with complex needs. Funding and training packages are available to help people take up the role.
Swansea Council head of child and family services Mark Roszkowski said: "We are incredibly proud and grateful to Foster Swansea carers who provide such a wonderful service to Looked After children throughout the year."
