Disability Equality Scheme 2006-2009

The Council's first Disability Equality Scheme was adopted on the 9th November 2006. The scheme is a requirement of the Disability Discrimination Act 2005 and sets out how the Council will promote disability equality.

This particular Equality Scheme will be incorporated within the Council's Single Equalities Scheme to be implemented during 2009 and which will deal with the six equality strands of Race, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Age, Disability and Religion or Belief. As a result, the current version of this scheme will remain in operation until superseded.
