PollutionThe Pollution Control team deals with a broad range of pollution issues. They aim to improve the local environment through the assessing, monitoring and reducing of pollutants across the area.The team is made up of Environmental Health Officers, Pollution Control Officers and administrative staff. They provide information, support and advice and deal with complaints and enquiries regarding a range of pollution problems including air, noise, land and water pollution. A 24hr service is also operated to respond to chemical emergencies and registered noise nuisance problems. The office opening hours are 8.30am - 5.00pm (Friday until 4.30pm). The Pollution Control Team carries out a range of duties in relation to land contamination.
Local Authorities are responsible for regulating emissions to air, land and water from Part B and A2 processes as well as energy efficiency, waste management and accident prevention.

The Pollution Control team currently investigates in excess of 3000 noise complaints each year.
