Ambition is Critical - the Community Strategy for Swansea - is in the process of being updated and needs the help of the communities of Swansea.

The City & County of Swansea's Community Strategies team are running two schemes to engage community members in the community strategy process.

The 'Gimme 5' scheme is aimed at all members of the community and involves community members submitting a five-word sentence that indicates how they would like their community to be in the year 2020.

Young people (16-25 year olds) are being asked to participate through the 'Text & Textability' scheme. This is similar to 'Gimme 5', the catch is that the young people have to use popular text-speak within their entries. Young people have the opportunity to text their submissions. Young people can enter by texting their five-word sentence to 07717 985665.

Submissions so far have included "4 all truancy 2 stop" and "4 evry1 2 get along". The scheme has been developed to ensure that the young people of Swansea have a voice in the community strategy through a medium they are comfortable using.

Dave McKenna, Community Leadership and Engagement Manager, said, "It is hoped the schemes really capture the imaginations of community members and gets them involved in the community strategy process. By using the medium of text, we wish to make the scheme more interesting to young people and encourage their participation."

Both schemes close on Monday 10th April 2006. All submissions to each scheme will be entered into a draw to win prizes, including tickets to the New Stadium, with a selection of the entries being included in the update of the community strategy which is due for publication in May.
