What Areas Does The Office Cover?

This office covers the areas of Townhill and Mayhill, and falls within the wards of Townhill, Uplands and Cockett. The areas are approximately within 1 mile of the centre of Swansea. At present there are 2489 council homes. The areas contain a mixture of property types including houses, flats, bungalows, and sheltered accommodation. We have 1,2, 3 bedroom flats, 2, 3, 4 bedroom houses, 1 bed sheltered bungalows and 1 and 2 bed sheltered flats. The sheltered schemes in this area are: Heol y Gors: 1 bed bungalows and Thomas Evans House at Tower Gardens: 1 and 2 bed flats.

What Facilities Are In The Area?

The Phoenix Centre offers local people access to a children's play facilities, all weather fitness centre, café and restaurant, a computer training suite, job club, crèche/nursery and a number of small business units, you can contact the Phoenix Centre on 01792 479800.

Topic House, the older person's information centre, is at 56 Teilo Crescent, Mayhill. You can meet here and get information for older person's and their carers. Telephone 01792 642237 for further information.

There are also 5 community centres in the area - on Mayhill Road, Gors Avenue, Heol y Gors, Powys Avenue and St Peters Terrace in Cockett. Please call the Community Recreation Team for more information on 01792 635412.

In addition there are 2 colleges of higher education - Swansea Metropolitan University and 1 college of further education - Gower College Swansea all of which are easily accessible from the Townhill/Mayhill areas. There are many local shops, post offices, GPs and dentists located within the area. There are also a selection of larger retail outlets in Carmarthen Road, including the Parc Fforestfach Shopping Complex.

Playing fields are located next to the Phoenix Centre and on Gors Avenue. There are also Multi Use Games Areas in Mayhill and Townhill.
