What Areas Does The Office Cover?

Around 1500 properties in 10 housing areas are managed by Sketty District Housing Office. The areas covered are Dunvant, Three Crosses, Sketty, Scurlage, Rhosilli, Reynoldston, Penclawdd, Penmaen/Parkmill, Upper Killay, Bishopston/Murton and Gower North West. These areas fall within the Gower, Uplands, Penclawdd and Bishopston wards.

The majority of council accomodation is traditional houses and flats with three blocks of high rise flats in Sketty. In the area are bedsits, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom flats and maisonettes, 2 and 3 bedroom houses and 1 and 2 bedroom sheltered flats and bungalows.

What Facilities Are There In The Area?

There are 2 Community Centres in the area, Sketty Park and Penclawdd, telephone Community Recreation for more information on 01792 635412.

There is a library in Sketty, telephone 01792 202024 or email sketty.library@swansea.gov.uk for more information. A mobile library visits Dunvant, Murton, Parkmill, Penclawdd, Reynoldston, Rhosilli, Scurlage, Sketty Park, Tree Crosses and Upper Killay approximately every 2 weeks, please telephone 01792 636430 for more information. Olchfa Community Sports Centre within Olchfa Comprehensive School has a swimming pool open to the public please ring 01792 205604 for more information. Gower College Swansea in Ty Coch also has a sports centre which is open to the public, telephone 01792 284088 or see their website.

There are small pockets of local shops within many of the housing areas and Sketty hosts a wider selection of shops.

There are a variety of leisure activities on offer within the Gower area including walking, pony trekking, cycling and water sports. Clyne Gardens and Singleton park are near to Sketty and offer picturesque walks through their grounds. Clyne Valley Country Park also has a cycle track running through it. The Wales National Pool is at Sketty Lane (opposite Singleton hospital) their telephone number is 01792 513513.

There are recycling facilities at Clyne Civic Amenity Site off Derwen Fawr Road in Clyne, Sketty Lane Car Park on Mumbles Road, Sketty and at Dunvant Cycle Track Car Park in Dunvant.A kerbside collection of recyclable materials operates throughout Swansea, telephone the Recycling Office on 01792 635600 or email recycling@swansea.gov.uk for more information.
