What Areas Does The Office Cover?

The Gorseinon office provides housing management services for around 1500 council homes, in 16 housing areas: Pontarddulais, Tal y Bont, Pontlliw, Dulais East, Grovesend, Penyrheol, Gorseinon Central and East, Kingsbridge, Gowerton, Loughor Lower, Loughor Upper, Penllergaer and Mawr. The areas covered by this office cover a large number of electoral wards, which includes the wards of Penllergaer, Gorseinon East, Penyrheol, Gowerton East, Loughor Lower, Gowerton West, Loughor Upper, Pontarddulais, Craig Cefn Parc and Tal Y Bont.

The above areas include a mixture of property types including traditional houses, bungalows, flats and maisonettes and sheltered accommodation. A number of properties have been sold to tenants under the "Right To Buy" scheme. There are 1 and 2 bedroom bungalows, 1 and 2 bedroom flats and maisonettes, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses and sheltered complexes in the area. Sheltered complexes are found in Gowerton, Pontarddulais, Loughor and Gorseinon.

Many homes within the Penllergaer area are now subject to a major regeneration project, which will involve the demolition and rebuilding of a number of homes. This project is being managed in partnership with Swansea Housing Association and Lovell Development Partnerships.

What Facilities Are In The Area?

There is one Community Centre in the area: Rechabite Hall on Church St, Gowerton. Please telephone Community Recreation on 01792 635412 for more information.

The Gorseinon area is currently being regenerated through a number of projects which aim to ensure the long term economic and social wellbeing of the people of the town.

There is a Jobcentre (telephone 01792 494900) on Lime Street in Gorseinon.

There are libraries in Gorseinon (01792 516780), Gowerton (01792 873572) and Pontarddulais (01792 882822). A mobile library also visits Loughor, Pontlliw, Craig Cefn Parc, Felindre and Garnswllt approximately every 2 weeks, telephone 01792 636430 for more information.

There are 2 leisure centres which serve the Gorseinon area. Penyrheol Leisure Centre is on Pontarddulais Road in Gorseinon providing a swimming pool, sauna suite, fitness and other training facilities. Their telephone number is 01792 897039. At this centre there is also a theatre for music and family entertainment. Pontarddulais Community Leisure Centre is within Pontarddulais Comprehensive School and has a multi-purpose sports hall, gymnasium and multi-gym. There a number of shops in the High Street area of Gorseinon and a large Asda supermarket. There are also a number of pubs and restaurants.

During the summer months the playbus for younger children visits the area regularly.

There are a number of small local parks such as Parc William in Loughor and Parc Y Wern in Gorseinon.

There is a cycle track at Lliw Valley reservoirs where you can also fish.

Recycling centres can be found at:Water Street Car Park in Pontarddulais; the Glamorgan Arms, Bryntirion Road, Pontlliw; the Workingman's Club, Brighton Road, Gorseinon; the Miners Welfare Club, Plas Road, Grovesend.

The area has great links to both east and west destinations on the M4 motorway.

The area is also served by a number of bus services to the Quadrant bus station in Swansea City Centre, and to other parts of the City and County of Swansea area. There is also a railway station in Gowerton. Use the links to find out about routes.
