Recycling & Rubbish![]() Use these pages to find out about the ways you can dispose of your recycling and rubbish as well as getting tips on how to recycle more and information on your collections. We offer a Kerbside Collection Scheme for recycling and household rubbish. Our kerbside recycling collection scheme has expanded to include a number of items including glass, paper, cans, kitchen waste, garden waste, cardboard and plastics. If you are using all the kerbside recycling collections you will notice that there is not a lot of household waste left in your black bag. Due to your support in our Kerbside Recycling Collection scheme the City and County of Swansea is now in a position to move forward with the introduction of Alternate Weekly collections. You will continue to have weekly collections but you will need to sort your waste into the appropriate bag or bin. Remember that your kitchen waste is collected every week. The changes will take place in TWO phases: The First Phase will start in the Autumn 2010 this will include all households who have their recycling and rubbish collected on a Thursday and Friday. Changes will take effect from Thursday 7 October 2010 and Friday 8 October respectively. The Second Phase will start in the Spring 2011 this will include all households who have their recycling and rubbish collected on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The specific start date will be announced closer to the time. Alternate Weekly may seem complicated at first but it means that your recycling and refuse collections will be split into a Green Week and Pink Week
You will notice that your recycling collections have not changed but remember that your black bags for non recyclables will only be collected on pink week. If you have any questions about the new Alternate Weekly Collections come along to one of our Public Meetings
Not all items can be collected from the kerbside. There are a number of Community Recycling Sites and local Recycling areas where you can take these items.
