Swansea Open 2008: Annual Exhibition

Swansea Open is an art competition open to anyone who lives or works in the City & County of Swansea, and is for professional artists as well as those who have not exhibited their work before in a public art gallery.


Selector
The invited selector this year is artist Laura Ford, who was born in Cardiff and has exhibited widely in Wales and internationally. Laura Ford was included in the British Art Show 5, 2000, and represented Wales in the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005.  Laura has also previously exhibited at the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery.

Solo exhibitions include Camden Arts Centre; Arnolfini, Bristol; Royal Scottish Academy; and most recently Turner Contemporary, Margate, touring to the Economist Plaza in 2007.

Forthcoming exhibitions include Wanderland at Fundament Foundation, Tilburg and her work is included in many public collections including the Government Art Collection and the Tate Gallery.

The Curator or equivalent representative of the Gallery will be present, together with an external observer.


Prizes
Three prize-winners have been chosen from the selected entries, with a first prize of £250, second prize of £150 and a third prize of £100.
