What Areas Does This Office Cover?

This office covers the areas of Blaenymaes, Portmead, Fforesthall, Cadle and Waunarlwydd and falls in the wards of Penderry and Cockett and is approximately 4.5 miles from the centre of Swansea. At present there are just under 1700 council properties within these areas. The areas contain a mixture of houses, flats, bungalows and sheltered accommodation. Available are 1 and 2 bedroom bungalows, 1,2 and 3 bedroom flats and maisonettes, 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses. There are also 1 bedroom sheltered bungalows and 1 and 2 bedroom sheltered flats in Fforesthall and 1 bedroom sheltered flats at in Portmead.

What facilities are in the area?

The Tenants and Residents Association and many other community groups are active in the area. The Blaenymaes, Portmead, Penplas Development Trust (telephone number 578632) is a community-based organisation in the area working to help local people and agencies make long-term improvements to the local community.

The Ty Fforest Community House is at 12-13 Rhodf'ar Brain and provides social and recreational facilities for all the local community. Please telephone 01792 534060 for more information.

Community Centres are based at Broughton Avenue in Blaenymaes and Victoria Road in Waunarlwydd and for information please telephone Community Recreation on 01792 635412.

There is a Drop-In Centre and Charity Shop at 86-90 Blaenymaes Drive (telephone 01792 580905) for young families, and an after school club based in Dove Road.

A mobile library visits Blaenymaes on Mondays and Tuesdays and visits Waunarlwydd approximately every 2 weeks, please telephone 01792 636430 for more information.

There are many local shops in the area including small parades of shops on Caerithin Cross, Pentregethin Road and Broughton Avenue. It is not far to the larger shops on Carmarthen Road and the Parc Fforestfach shopping complex.

The nearest leisure centre and swimming pool is Penlan Leisure Centre on Heol Gwyrosydd in Penlan, telephone 01792 588079 for more details.

There is a large park in the Blaenymaes area - Ravenhill Park. Also in this area is Swansea Community Farm, next to Cadle Primary School, telephone 01792 578384 for more information.

There are recycling facilities at the Tesco Store in Fforestfach and in Penlan, off Heol Gwyrosydd.
