Dog fouling

Swansea has many responsible dog owners, but unfortunately there are many who do not clear up their dog's mess, or who bag it up and leave the bag by the pathway.

Dog owners that do not clean up after their dog could be given a fixed penalty notice of £75, or they could be prosecuted and may then be fined up to £1,000.

We have installed 500 dog waste disposal bins in popular dog walking areas. These are emptied regularly. If you can't find a convenient dog bin or litter bin then you must bag up the mess and take it home.

Report dog fouling

If you wish to report an irresponsible person who continually allows their dog to foul the highway, please provide your own name and contact details and one of our officers may visit the offending household.

When we get your complaint we can investigate and consider the best course of action which may involve:

  • Cleaning up the mess
  • Using the clean crew to clean the area
  • Erecting anti-fouling signs in the area
  • Taking enforcement action against the dog owner
