Coed Gwilym Park, Clydach

This walk takes you along the towpath of Swansea Canal. As you stroll in the tranquil surroundings you'll find it hard to imagine times when the canal was busy with horsedrawn barges carrying coal down the valley to Swansea, the one time copper smelting capital of the world also known as 'Copperopolis'.

Directions

• Start at car park in Coed Gwilym Park
• Head for path and follow sign for Coed Gwilym Centre
• At end of path, by monolith, turn right at entrance to canal and follow path
• Keep walking until you reach gate posts, you have now walked
0.8km / 0.5 mile
• Turn around and head backImage depicting coed gwilym
• If you would like a longer walk you can keep going along the canal and head up towards Pontardawe. The gravel path is one straight route and relatively flat

Information

• The walk is flat and in dry weather suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs
• No benches or toilets on this route
