City Centre Core Retail Area Update

This site will be used to provide regular updates for traders within the City Centre who are within the project area.

Many thanks to all retail and commercial partners who have been patient with the programme of works.  Through regular consultation with project partners we have sought to maintain disruption to a minimum.

The enhancement of the Singleton Street, Plymouth Street, Dillwyn Street and Oxford Street (between Plymouth Street and Dillwyn Street) was approved by Council's Cabinet in 2010.

The area is shown in the map below.

The improvements will contribute plans set out in the recent Picton Lanes Initiative Study, which was adopted by Council's Cabinet in 2009 as a guide for regeneration of these streets. These proposals will seek to raise the quality of the place and make it more pleasant for pedestrians.

Further details of that study can be found at http://www.swanseacitycentre.com/index.cfm?articleid=35346

For the purposes of these proposals, the area will be referred to as the Lower Oxford Street Project Area.Image depicting European Logo

The project is supported by the Welsh Assembly Government and European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Convergence Funding, and forms part of a wider City Centre regeneration programme guided by the City Centre Strategic Framework (CCSF) which aims to regenerate the City Centre into a distinctive European Waterfront City.

WORKS COMMENCED IN SUMMER 2011 AND BE COMPLETED SPRING 2012.
