Child ProtectionA child - that is anyone up to the age of 18 - is abused or neglected when somebody inflicts harm, or fails to act to prevent harm. All adults have a responsibility to protect children from abuse or neglect. What should I do if I think a child may be at risk? The Children Act 1989 puts a legal obligation on Social Services to take action when any information comes in to say that any child may be in danger of being hurt or neglected.
If you are concerned that a child is at risk of harm, contact Social Services: Children's Central Advice, Referral and Assessment Team Emergency Duty Team (outside normal office hours) In an emergency, contact the Police on 01792 456999 or dial 999. |
