The council operates a collection service for 'bulky' household items. There is a charge for this service.
Bulky collections must be booked and paid for in advance. You can book in 1 to 3 items for £17 or 4 to 6 items for £34. We will collect a maximum of 6 items per booking.
Bulky waste includes household waste that can't be fitted into black bags, or that weighs over 15kg. Small waste should be disposed of correctly either through our Kerbside collection or one of our Recycling sites you can also take reusable items direct to our The Corner Shop.
How to use the service
Book a bulk waste collection onlineTo ensure your items are collected you need to book a collection.
You can request a collection online using the bulk waste collection form. You will need to tell us about the items you would like collected. You will be able to pay for the service at the same time as booking. Collections are usually made on the same day as your recycling and rubbish collections. We are currently booking 2 weeks in advance of collection. We'll email you back within 3 working days with the exact day / date of collection.
If you prefer you can book and pay in person by visiting the Contact Centre or by phoning 01792 635600.
- only put out items you described when you booked the collection.
- put the items out for collection on the kerbside between 7.00pm on the evening before your collection and 7.00am on the morning of your collection day.
- try to keep items dry and don't leave items outside for a long time in all weathers. If you are leaving out an item that could absorb water (eg mattress or settee) then please cover them. Wet items may be too heavy to lift and will not be collected.
All the items collected are sorted for either reuse or recycling by the Swansea Waste Action team.
We will not collect clinical waste, hazardous household waste, trade waste, items containing glass or mirrors or fixtures such as radiators, bathroom suites etc.
Please note we only collect from residential properties. We are unable to offer this service to businesses.
