Brynmill Park

image depicting Picture of Disocvery Centre

The Discovery Centre is complete!

After months of hard work and planning the new Discovery Centre opened its doors on Saturday 21st June.

The Centre provides the park with a focus for exploring its history and wildlife. The large one way glass window enables visitors to view birds in their natural habitat without disturbing them. The building also contains a permanent exhibition about the park and is an ideal base for educational actives.

Kiosk Facilities are due to be in place soon.

Fun Day event - Saturday 27 September

Join us this Saturday to help celebrate the completion of the project when we are holding a fabulous family fun day. The event is free to attend and is taking place between 12pm - 6pm. Highlights include live entertainment, a variety of market stalls and a dog show. Why not bring along a picnic and soak up the atmosphere.

History of the bid

Recognised by CADW (register of Landscapes, Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales) as a grade II listed Park, Brynmill Park belongs to the Victorian era. Steeped in history and interesting facts, a wealth of information is available.

In 2006, The Heritage Lottery Fund awarded a grant for the restoration of Brynmill Park.

These pages are intended to keep you up to date with the progress of this refurbishment and provide a communication link with the Parks Department of the City and County of Swansea and the public.

In 1837 a company formed called the Swansea Waterworks Company. They were given parliamentary powers to construct a reservoir at Brynmill.
