Blue Badge Scheme

The Blue Badge Scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for people with with severe mobility difficulties.

The scheme provides parking concessions for people with:

  • severe walking difficulties who travel either as drivers or passengers
  • registered blind people
  • people with very severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive a vehicle but cannot turn a steering wheel by hand

The scheme allows badge holders to park closer to their destination, but the national concessions apply only to on-street parking.

Please note that from 1st April 2012 the following changes will take place:

Charges
There will be NO charge for Blue Badge.

Telephone Helpline for General Enquiries
There will be a new National telephone helpline for Blue Badge general enquiries - 0844 4630215
