Absolute beginners practical photography - 1 day course (Saturday workshop)

This hands-on workshop is an introduction to digital photography and will help students understand their equipment and basic camera functions and controls.

  • How to set your camera according to the subject you are photographing such as portraiture, landscape, sports or macro photography
  • How to create a strong composition using simple techniques, examples rule of thirds, leading lines, framing, use of colour and viewpoint.
  • How to get good exposure using auto and semi-automatic settings. 
  • Understanding basic lighting.
  • Selecting ISO 
  • Self-timer
  • White balance

Students will have the opportunity to practice their new skills and gain confidence by taking photos during the workshop. 

Suitable for students new to digital photography and those that have some basic knowledge and would like to gain new skills and improve their photographs.

This class will suit you if you want to learn:

  • How to use your camera's functions, any level camera, not phones.
  • How to use auto settings
  • How to develop a photographic eye to shoot strong creative compositions. 

No experience necessary.

What you will need

A digital camera: any level camera, manual, pen, notebook, folder to store hand outs and a memory stick.
