Dealing with asbestos in your home

Asbestos can be found in any house or building built before the year 2000 as it was widely used in a variety of building materials.

Asbestos is dangerous when fibres are released. If asbestos materials are in good condition and in an area where they will not be disturbed then they should not cause any harm.

Asbestos materials are treated as special waste and therefore it must not be disposed of in the normal household waste. We offer a collection service for the removal of asbestos.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) websiteOpens new window contains information on the risks of asbestos and how to deal with it and includes information for building owners, trades people, licensed operators and members of the public.
