Cinema and Theatre

The Cinema Exhibitors Association CardOpens new window is a national card that entitles people who registered blind or are in receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Attendance Allowance to one free ticket for a person accompanying them to the cinema.

Audio Description is a facility which helps to make visual events accessible for blind and visually impaired people.

Hynt

The Hynt card allows free access for carers to leisure, arts and performance venues in Swansea (e.g. the Grand Theatre, Active Swansea centres, the LC) and helps make access to leisure and recreational services easier for disabled customers. 


Library Services

Swansea Libraries have a number of services that can help disabled people access reading materials and IT.

The Library Service has a Housebound Service for those who cannot get to a local library because of age or disability. Both large print and audio books can be ordered through this service. Tel: 01792 516773

Library members can download eAudiobooks free to listen to on their computer, MP3 player or i-Pod.

You can also get free Internet access at your local library

The Play and Leisure Opportunity LibraryOpens new window is a Swansea-based charity providing specialist toys and leisure equipment for both children and adults with a disability in a lending library service.

A number of organisations specialise in providing advice or practical support to enable disabled people to have a break away from home. There are many websites with helpful information and / or accommodation directories.

Tourism for All is a national charity that provides advice for people who may experience barriers to participation in tourism, including disabled people, older people and carers.

Disabled Holiday Info is a site run by a Shropshire-based charity with detailed accessibility information for a number of holiday areas including Wales, the borders and the midlands.
