Business tourism

Business related tourism including meetings, conferences, team building, management training and incentive travel (a holiday or short break as a reward to a valued customer or high performing employee).

Who is involved in business tourism?

Conference hotels and day venues in the main. However, team building and management training events can also require activity operators as well as meeting rooms and accommodation. Bed and Breakfast operators also provide somewhere to stay for the larger conference events, as the organisers like to offer a variety of accommodation to their delegates.

What are the benefits of business tourism?

Although the number of visiting business tourism delegates is lower than leisure tourists, their average spend is much greater. Business tourists also tend to visit during the shoulder periods and not high season, complementing your core business.

How do we promote ourselves to business tourism clients?

We have produced a conference brochure which features venues and conference services. Our new consumer website features a dedicated conference page. We also place advertising in specialist magazines, undertake direct mail activity, support journalist visits, organise familiarisation visits and take part in both national marketing activity via Visit Wales.

If you are interested in being involved in future conference material that we produce, please contact Tonia Thomas on 01792 635208 or email tonia.thomas@swansea.gov.uk for more information.
