Dead animals

In Swansea, our animal wardens collect dead animals, such as dogs, cats and foxes from highways.

We do not collect small animals such as hedgehogs.

If you see a dead animal on a road or pavement, please let us know so that our animal wardens can collect it. You can report a dead animal and ask for a collection by email evh@swansea.gov.uk.

Birds

If you find 5 or more dead birds of the same species or from different species in the same place you should contact the DEFRA helpline on 08459 33 55 77 and choose the Avian Influenza option.

Wild birds can carry several diseases that are infectious to people. If dead birds are handled, it is important to wash your hands with soap and water as soon as possible. Avoid touching your face and certainly do not eat until you have washed your hands. Clean any dirt on your clothing with soap and water.

Farm animals

The movement of dead farm animals is controlled. For further advice please contact Trading Standards.
