Carers Support

Carers can get information, advice and support from a number of local organisations including Social Services and Swansea Carers Centre.

In the 2011 census, 30,347 people in Swansea identified themselves as carers. Of these, over 8,500 provide 50 or more hours of unpaid care to family and friends every week.

Swansea has its own Carers Centre,Opens new window which is often the first port of call for carers who are not sure where to find the support they need.  Social Services, ABMU Health BoardOpens new window and a number of voluntary-sector organisations also provide advice, support and services for carers.

The Centre provides a range of information, advice, support, services and events for Carers. Its services are free and open to all carers.

Short Breaks (Respite) for Adults

Do you rely on a family member or friend to look after you? Or are you someone who cares for a friend or relative? A short break may do you both good.

Carers' Emergency Card

The Carer's Emergency Card is a credit-card-sized card which fits easily into a purse or wallet and enables people to quickly identify you as a carer in an emergency.
