Support organisations

A number of organisations, both local and national, provide information and advice to disabled people. These include:

Swansea Association Independent Living (SAIL)Opens new window

SAIL is a local voluntary organisation of disabled people working to eliminate the barriers preventing disabled people from living full and independent lives.

Swansea Access for Everyone (SAFE)Opens new window

SAFE is a local access group who work towards achieving a built environment that is accessible to everyone.

Swansea Disability Development ServiceOpens new window

Run by Swansea Council for Voluntary Services, the Disability Development Service provides support and advice to disabled people, carers and disability groups across Swansea, and ensures that disabled people are actively involved in the planning of social and health care services.

A pan-disability organisation formed from a unification of Disability Alliance, Radar and National Centre for Independent Living led, run and controlled by disabled people.

A national charity that provides impartial advice, information and training on daily living aids.

A national charity providing care, rehabilitation and support solutions for people with profound physical impairments, acquired brain injury and learning disabilities as well as children and adults with autism.

Independence at HomeOpens new window

A national charity which helps people with a long-term illness or disability who need financial help towards the cost of equipment, home adaptations or other essential items to improve independence at home.    People have to be referred by a professional worker from health, social care or a charity that is in contact with the person or their family.
