New Estyn Inspection Arrangements for Governors

From September 2017, schools will be inspected by Estyn using a brand new framework. The role of governors in leadership and setting strategic direction is vital and will be considered closely when inspecting schools. Inspectors will place a stronger emphasis on what learners say as well as what their work shows about their learning. There will be greater expectation on how schools collaborate with others and there will be continued emphasis on schools, including their governing bodies, knowing their strengths and areas for development well.

The training event aims to clarify new inspection arrangements for governors and will provide a helpful insight into fresh expectations of schools. The event is aimed at newly appointed governors and long serving governors alike. It may be particularly useful for governors of schools where the last inspection was three or more years ago.

The session will provide bilingual materials and there will be an opportunity to have your questions answered.

By the end of the session, governors will have a good understanding of how schools will be judged using the new 2017 inspection framework
