FIS Training - Infection Control and Food Allergens

Facilitated by Pacey Cymru

The aim of this workshop is to explore with you how the Infection Prevention and Control for Childcare Settings (0-5 years) All Wales Guidance can inform and support best practice. You will be shown how to use the guidance to develop local infection control policies and procedures, and will also be able to:

  • Consider good practice in order to reduce the potential for cross infection in the setting
  • Review childcare practice in relation to the Infection Prevention and Control Guidance
  • Prepare an Action Plan to complete the Infection Control Audit Tool for Childcare Settings

We will also explain the regulation around allergens and what to be aware of when providing food and snacks when caring for children. You will have a better understanding of what the allergens are, and will be able to:

  • Regularly review your menus and be aware of any changes or additions that you may make
  • Ensure that you are accurate, consistent and that your information is verifiable upon challenge
  • Risk assess when children may be eating food away from the setting
