Where to play

Your house and garden - on a rainy afternoon dig out the board games, Lego or paints. Make up a play or get the karaoke machine cranked up. If the weather's okay get out in the garden and play with a football or on the trampoline. Give the kids a corner of the garden to work on and grow their own plants or just make mud pies.

The local park or playground - if there's no room to kick a football or ride a bike in your garden then get yourself down to the prom or local park where you can really stretch your legs! Search parks and green spaces

The beach - Swansea is so lucky to be situated on the doorstep of the UK's first 'area of outstanding natural beauty' and we have miles of sandy beaches which are a child's perfect playground all year round. Leisure centres - the Active Swansea pages have loads of information about sport, fitness, swimming and other clubs and activities. There are discount schemes for people on low income or with disabilities.

Sports clubs - whether you're into football, rugby, netball, running, swimming, hockey or anything else - there are clubs for all ages and abilities Search for a sports club

Get them into dance or theatre! This area has a strong tradition with famous singers and actors so start your budding Michael Sheen or Catherine Zeta Jones young, with dance classes and stage schools. There are many across the city and some based at Swansea Grand Theatre.

There are lots of playgroups and nursery groups in the city Children's play sessions.

Libraries are no longer places where you have to be quiet and serious! They regularly have baby and toddler rhyme time, crafty fingers, homework clubs and other events Library events.
