Enter 10k soon to avoid disappointment

Entries for the Admiral Swansea Bay 10k are filling up fast as the deadline to take part in this year's race edges ever closer.

People who'd like to take part but have yet to fill out an entry form only have until the end of August to do so.

The race, organised by Swansea Council and taking place on Sunday September 18, forms part of the Enjoy Swansea Bay programme of events. With a capacity for 4,500 runners, the race is open to people aged 15 and over.

Also taking place on the day are 1k, 3k and 5k races for juniors, along with a 10k wheelchair race.

Cllr Robert Francis-Davies, Swansea Council's Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Regeneration, said: "The Admiral Swansea Bay 10k is one of the best races of its kind in the country. Earlier this year, it was named second best 10k in the UK in the 2016 Running Awards, and only two weeks ago it was highly commended in the final three of the best event category in the Swansea Life Awards. These accolades are testament to everyone involved in the event's organisation and promotion.

"With the end of August deadline to enter now fast-approaching, entries are really starting to flood in, so I'd encourage anyone who wants to take part to get their entry forms in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment, as entries have been full before the closing date for the last few years.

"With its flat, fast and scenic route alongside the magnificent views of Swansea Bay, this year's Admiral Swansea Bay 10k is sure to be an outstanding success once again. It's an ideal event for professional athletes, amateur runners, fundraisers and people looking to conquer fitness challenges, and brings down the curtain on a great summer of sport."

A mascot race will also be taking place on the day, so entries are invited from groups, organisations and companies looking to win the £100 on offer for the winning mascot.
