Improvement objective A

Provide support for children in the early years in Swansea so that they are ready for learning and make developmental progress.

1. What do we want to achieve?

2. Why is this important?

  • At least maintain attendance levels at Flying Start settings.
  • Measure the distance parents/carers have travelled in how they perceive they have improved their parenting during the intervention.
  • Understand percentage of Flying Start children assessed at or above their developmental norm.
  • So that as many eligible children and their families as possible benefit from the educational and social support.
  • An important measure of the progress parents and carers perceive they have made during the intervention in improving their parenting skills, children's behaviour and self-esteem and confidence.
  • So that professionals working with children and their families can respond appropriately to help improve outcomes.

Performance measures

  1. Percentage attendance at Flying Start settings.
  2. Percentage Flying Start children assessed as performing at or above the developmental norm.
  3. Percentage of parents/carers that report a positive distance travelled (improvement) at the end of a Flying Start parenting programme.
