Special educational needs (SEN) policy and strategy

Here you will find copies of the City and County of Swansea's SEN policy and strategic priorities.

SEN Policy

The City and County of Swansea is rightly proud of its record in meeting the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).  A particular feature of the Authority's provision is the high numbers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs who are educated in mainstream schools.

The SEN Policy is a policy for all, embracing the principles of inclusive education where all children and young people are equally valued and given opportunities to maximise their potential, providing for them, wherever possible, within their own communities.

SEN Strategy

This document sets out the City and County of Swansea's strategic priorities relating to Special Educational Needs Revised July 2012.

The final version of the Strategy will be accompanied by an SEN Strategy Action Plan, which will translate the strategic priorities described in the text into an action plan format with clear targets, success criteria, timescales and allocated responsibilities.
