SEN - Inclusion policy and strategy

Sets out the commitment of the local education authority (LEA) to the principles and implementation of inclusive education across relevant services and activities, and the strategic priorities designed to meet this commitment.

Inclusion Policy

Our inclusive principles will inform the work of the LEA within the context of the City and County of Swansea's support for Lifelong Learning and will mean that the Education Directorate and schools will:

  1. Develop cultures, policies and procedures to support Inclusion.
  2. Recognise and promote the entitlement of all children and young people to schooling and other learning opportunities.
  3. Develop a curriculum that celebrates diversity.
  4. Reduce exclusions.
  5. Provide services that are accessible to all people.
  6. Require effective cross functional and community involvement.

Inclusion Strategy

This strategy should be read in conjunction with the City and County of Swansea's Education Directorate Inclusion Policy which stated that the Education Directorate will:

The Inclusion Policy also sets out the City and County of Swansea's key principles for inclusion as well as providing a policy framework and the local Swansea context in which this strategy will have to be implemented.
