Neath Antiquarian Society Archives

Our service point in the Neath Mechanics' Institute.

The Neath Antiquarian Society Archives is the West Glamorgan Archive Service's branch office in Neath. It is the home of the Neath Antiquarian Society and holds their historic archive collections. There is a searchroom where the original documents can be consulted, and where a member of staff is available for advice.

There are a variety of sources in the searchroom that will help you to research your family history. There are local parish registers and census on microfilm and microfiche, a copy of the General Register Office indexes of births, marriages and deaths on microfilm, and a free internet service to enable you to access online family history websites. There are many other sources on CD, and there is a library of books on local history.

PLEASE NOTE OUR NEW OPENING HOURS
From 1 August 2016 the Neath Antiquarian Society Archives will be open on Monday and Thursday, 9am-12.30pm and 1.30-4.45pm.
