Research service

We offer a research service for those unable to make a personal visit to the Archive Service.

If you would like to use this service, you can do so by completing the form below. You will need to pay for the research at the same time. All research enquiries are dealt with in rotation in the order in which they are received. We aim to deal with each request within 10 working days of receiving it.

Before you apply

Do we hold the records you need? We can only check records we hold and are not able to carry out research at another archives. Please contact us by email at westglam.archives@swansea.gov.uk and we can advise if we hold the records you require. Please note even if we hold the correct records we may not be able to find the exact information you require.

Request and pay for archives research
Once you have checked with us you can complete the form below and pay for research. You should quote any document numbers we may have given you after your initial enquiry. Keep you request simple and specific. If you need more than one piece of information please let us know which is the most important so we can ensure we carry out that research during your paid for time.

Payment

The charge for this service is £30 per hour (£15 for a short search of half an hour) which includes the cost of postage and of relevant photocopies and printouts. Payment should always be made when requesting the search. If no results are available for your search we are unable to reimburse any part of this fee. If you choose to pay by credit card, an additional charge of 2% will be added to your payment.
