Active Young People
The Active Young People (AYP) team sit within Active Swansea's Development and Outreach team, and is made up of two of the three SportWales funded Active Young People initiatives – Dragon Sport, 5x60 and Young Ambassadors. The AYP team are predominantly based with primary and secondary schools across Swansea and are responsible for providing a variety of exciting sport and physical activity opportunities for young people aged between 7 and 16 years, as part of their school extra curricular programmes and within their local communities. 5X60 is a Sport and Physical Activity Scheme for Secondary School Pupils - A pilot SportWales scheme aimed to encourage pupils to participate in sport. has now expanded into all 16 secondary schools in Swansea, providing new sport, physical activity and adventure opportunities for pupils.
Dragon Sport is a SportWales initiative in partnership with National governing bodies of sport and local authorities. The sports programme is funded by the National Lottery and is designed to encourage 7-11 year olds to participate in sport whilst having fun.
The Young Ambassador programme is an initiative which empowers youngsters around the country to inspire their friends and peers and will form a key part of the London 2012 activities in schools in the run up to the games.
